We are a community of broken people, redeemed by God and brought together for His purposes. Our mission is to make disciples who are rooted in the gospel and pursuing the renewal of Metro Detroit. As a new church we will focus on gathering for worship, building community and loving our neighbors. We will teach the Bible honestly and with a heart to engage those who have doubts and questions about Jesus. We will cultivate rich relationships and help each other follow Christ in all of life. In all of this we want to bring glory to God and joy to all people. If this resonates with you, join us.

CORE VALUES

  • Our beliefs are rooted in historic Christian orthodoxy, as described in our statement of faith. We are not driven by the personality of a leader or the trends of our culture, but rather, the words of Scripture.

  • The gospel of Jesus is the heartbeat of our church (Colossians 3:12–17). It animates and motivates everything that we do. It is the message that we proclaim and the culture that we promote.

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit brings spiritual vitality, and we are fully dependent on Him for our lives and ministry (Galatians 5:16–26). Just as He empowered Christ, He empowers us through spiritual gifts for the work of ministry and the building up of the body of Christ.

  • We are focused on making disciples. This is the mission Jesus has given us (Matthew 28:16–20). We long to see God save sinners and raise them up into mature members of His church for the sake of the world.

  • We are committed to loving every person the Lord brings us with the dignity they deserve because they are made in His image (Genesis 1:26–28). The invitation of the gospel is for all people to repent of their sin and trust in Christ.

  • The Woodward Corridor is a hub for the next generation and a culture shaping place in Metro Detroit. We are committed to building an outpost for the gospel here through the sacrifice of our time, talent, and treasure (1 Thessalonians 2:7–8; Matthew 6:19–21).

THEOLOGICAL DISTINCTIVES

  • Our theology is rooted in the major tenets of the Protestant Reformation: that salvation comes to us only in God’s Word (sola scriptura) by faith alone (sola fide) and grace alone (sola gratia) through Christ alone (solus Christus) and for God’s glory alone (soli Deo gloria).

  • Men and women are absolutely equal in essence, dignity, and value and are created distinct by divine design (Genesis 1:26–27, 2:18; Galatians 3:28; 1 Corinthians 11:2–16). As part of God’s good, created order, men and women are to have different yet complementary roles and responsibilities in the home and church.

  • A mature Rooted Church will be led by a plurality of qualified men, called by the congregation to be its pastor/elders (Philippians 1:1; Acts 20:17; Titus 1). Men and women of the congregation, together, have the final authority on receiving and removing members (Matthew 18:15–20), protecting doctrine (Galatians 1; Jude 1:3) and affirming pastors and deacons (Acts 6; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1).
