Find Salvation In Jesus alone

How to Become a Christian

We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. You can go from spiritual death to spiritual life by trusting Jesus for salvation.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

What is Salvation?

  • Salvation is an event and a process, encompassing God's decisive work in rescuing humanity from sin and its consequences. (Ephesians 1:3-10).

  • Salvation is accomplished as the Spirit prompts humans to confess and repent of their sin and place their faith in Jesus for salvation (John 16:8-11, Titus 3:4-7, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9-10).

By grace alone, through faith alone

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8)

  • This is not by works, you can not earn salvation through your good deeds

  • Faith - Hebrews 11:1-6

  • Grace - Titus 3:5-6

In Christ alone

  • In Christ, we receive deliverance by God from God and His wrath (Romans 5:8-10, Romans 3:26)

  • This is made possible through Jesus Christ alone (John 3:18, Acts 4:12).

    • Jesus is the substitute sacrifice (1 Peter 3:18)

    • Jesus’ death and resurrection were a propitiation (appeasing God’s wrath, cleansing us from sin, and granting us mercy from God) for His people (Romans 3:25, 1 John 2:2).

What was accomplished?

God’s people are redeemed (purchased, rescued, reclaimed)

  • Before salvation, we are enslaved to sin (John 8:34)

  • Because of sin we are separated from God, and owed spiritual death, separation from God for eternity (Romans 6:23, Romans 8:13)

  • Jesus triumphed over Satan and death (Colossians 2:15)

  • We were redeemed by Jesus’ death and resurrection to belong to God, righteousness, and life for eternity (Deuteronomy 7:8, Galatians 3:13, Ephesians 2:13

God’s people are reconciled (restore relationship, settle a dispute, made acceptable to God)

  • God’s people are reconciled to Him and each other. (Romans 5:8-10, Ephesians 2:16)

  • In union with Jesus, they share in His triumph over the world, sin, death, and Satan/demons. (Psalms 110:1, 1 Corinthians 15:20-28)

The process of Salvation

  • Justification is a one-time event that makes you right with God forever upon confessing and believing in the person and work of Jesus Christ.  (Romans 3:21- 5:21)

  • Sanctification is the process of growing in Christ-likeness. It means being set apart from the world for God’s purposes. (1 Corinthians 6:11, Romans 6:19, Philippians 2:12-13, Romans 8:29, 1 Thessalonians 5:23- 24)

  • Glorification is is the completion of our salvation when Jesus returns, to resurrect our mortal body and give us an immortal body, that is not corrupted by sin. We will live in a renewed creation with God and His people forever. (Romans 8:17, 1 Corinthians 15)

New Heart, New Life

Christians…

  • are given a new heart by which God enables them to respond to His loving call. (Ezekiel 36:26- 27)

  • are born again of the Spirit (John 3:5-8, Titus 3:5)

  • are sealed and assured of the promises in Christ (Ephesians 1:13-14)

  • are given the Spirit to empower them to live for Christ. (John 14:15, 21, 25-26; Acts 1:8)
